The HECK is going on here... I kinda like it but not looking forward to all the organizing I'm going to have to do now.

As of late, I've been thinking about my future as a concept artist and realizing that I am going to need some actual training. I can't continue to grow on my own like I have these past few years. People have told me I could go out and get a job with the stuff I have done so far, but that is a really unknown scary place. I have no idea how to handle it on my own, nor do I feel like I could really handle that kind of pressure without preparing for it first. So, instead of shelling out hoards of money I don't have to go to art school, I've decided that trying to find a mentor that would be willing to give me critiques and help me go in the right direction will be enough to get me to where I need to be.

The thing is, I spend most of my time right now worrying about my business on Etsy. That is what has been paying my bills as of late. If I let up on it at all I won't make enough money to pay rent. I'm opening commissions for next month, with a few slots depending on the workload. If you're interested in getting a commission, please talk to me! These commissions will be under a pay-what-you-want-but-I-will-decline-you-if-you're-a-cheap-assbutt basis. I have a thing about underpaid work, so please consider the fact that you will need to at least pay me minimum wage for my time (which is $9.10/hr in my state).

I should also mention that I sell prints of my work on Redbubble. This includes a few tote bags, t-shirts, pillows, phone covers, lots of fun things. So if you don't think you could afford to commission me, you could always buy something from my store!

You can also donate a few dollars to my paypal if you wish.

HEYO I GOT A BIRB

I haven't been really active here in a while, my business takes up most of my time so I don't really got a lot of time to draw personal stuff. I wanted to give you guys belated thanks for the birthday wishes! I didn't do much but I had fun :)

I got a new little friend! a few days ago I went to the pet store and got a budgie! His name is Couscous. When I first got him I thought he was a she since he's a recessive pied and the normal indicators of age and gender aren't there, but after lots of intense research I have concluded that Couscous is a boy. He is starting to get used to his new home, and has started singing and occasionally goes nuts in his cage, it's fun to watch lol. I took a few pictures of him, so you can see what he looks like!

He's SUPER cute, he also has a vivid blue spot on his back that is just slightly iridescent, and is really pretty!

Yesterday I decided to try out CG cookie since they've got tons of awesome tutorials but you have to pay to use it so for the longest time I was just eehhh about it. The thing is though is that you can download the videos along with other useful files and save them on your computer. You could cancel your subscription and pay again when there are more tutorials that you want to download, so that's nice. You don't have to pay for all of the tutorials, some are free and they are very helpful as well. Ever since CGhub was mysteriously taken down I've been looking for a more professional website to display my work and I'm liking this one a lot.

Gwen Process by Ondinel
Gwen Process
Process of making Gwen using the ambient occlusion technique I learned from CG cookie (it's a really awesome website wow.)

1. sketch
2. lineart (I have a messy sketch so this part was necessary for me but if you sketch cleaner you can leave this part out)
3. Ambient occlusion. Putting shadows in the areas where light will never touch. You can see examples of this on 3D models.
4. Flat colors. Just like coloring your line art, except choosing darker colors (as if the subject where in shadow)
(optional) Use textures to add another level of detail to your work.
5. Lighting. the ambient occlusion makes this part really easy and fun. Pick what ever color you want your lightsource to be and set the layer to overlay start lightening the areas where the light touches. You can have multiple light sources.
6. Finishing touches. On a layer above all other layers start painting out areas that are messy. Use adjustment layers, and add anything else you want.

About Me

I appreciate every :+fav: and cherish every :+devwatch:

Every now and then, I like to browse around the newest section and give favs and nice comments to artists I think have some good qualities that should be acknowledged. A nice comment has always encouraged me, and I want to spread the love! you are more than welcome for the favorite, you don't need to thank me! I have plenty of thank you spamming on my page already lol. If you really must say something you're more than welcome to comment on the collection I added it to. x)

I LOVE to share my wisdom of art with others! So if you need any help I am more than happy to help you. Plus I'm pretty good at finding helpful tutorials ALL YOU MUST DO IS ASK, and I'll share some with you :)

ps. if you are curious to see my older art my old account was DeviousCreator9000
